Rebuilding and leading a telecoms platform from fragmented execution to a structured, scalable product

Fiberway Source is a telecoms-focused platform designed to connect infrastructure, suppliers, and opportunities into a single system. I stepped in to take full ownership of the product and technical direction, replacing an offshore development setup, redesigning the platform, and rebuilding it with a more efficient, in-house approach. As Co-founder and CTO, I led the product from concept through to a structured, scalable platform with clear direction and foundations for growth.

The Challenge

What Fiberway Source needed to solve

Fiberway Source began with an early implementation that lacked clear product direction, consistency, and efficient delivery.

The challenge was not just to build features, but to reset the technical approach, define a clear product vision, and establish a more effective way of building and evolving the platform.

  • Resetting an existing product direction

The initial implementation required a full reassessment to align the platform with a clear product vision and user needs.

  • Replacing an inefficient development model

The existing offshore setup created challenges around speed, clarity, and cost, requiring a shift to a more controlled and efficient in-house approach.

  • Redesigning a complex domain

Telecoms infrastructure involves complex relationships and workflows that needed to be simplified into a usable and intuitive product.

  • Establishing structure and delivery processes

The product lacked clear task tracking, prioritisation, and roadmap planning, making consistent progress difficult.

My Approach

How I tackled it

My approach focused on taking full ownership of both product and engineering, restructuring how the platform was built while redefining the product itself.

01

Technical Reset & In-House Delivery

Replaced the offshore development model with a more efficient in-house approach, improving speed, communication, and overall cost-effectiveness.

02

Product Redesign

Redesigned the platform from the ground up, simplifying complex workflows and creating a clearer, more intuitive user experience.

03

Full-Stack Platform Rebuild

Rebuilt core parts of the platform with a modern, scalable architecture, ensuring long-term flexibility and maintainability.

04

Task Tracking & Roadmap Planning

Introduced structured task management and roadmap planning, giving the team clear priorities, visibility, and direction.

05

Technical Leadership

Led all technical decisions and product evolution, ensuring the platform continued to move towards a scalable and well-defined system.

Outcomes

What we achieved together

The platform was transformed from an inconsistent early implementation into a structured product with clear direction and a more efficient delivery model.

Platform successfully reset and rebuilt

Took ownership of an existing product and redefined both its direction and implementation.

Faster and more efficient delivery

Shifted development in-house, improving iteration speed while reducing overall costs.

Clear and intuitive product experience

Redesigned the platform to better reflect user needs and simplify complex workflows.

Structured roadmap and delivery process

Introduced task tracking and roadmap planning, enabling more consistent and predictable progress.

Stack & Tools

Technologies involved

The rebuild focused on a modern, flexible stack that supports rapid iteration while maintaining a strong foundation for scale.
