Preparing for BST 2026

BST is coming.

Most people just take the hit and feel off for a few days after having to get up an hour earlier out of nowhere. For the last few years I've tried something different.

About a week and a half before the clocks change, I start waking up 5 minutes earlier each day. Nothing extreme, just a small shift daily.

This morning I was up at 5:30am. By the time BST kicks in, my body clock should already be attuned to the new timezone.

I normally wake at 6 and hit the gym first thing. No easing into the day. So feeling fresh on a morning when most people are struggling feels good.

This early window has become time to get ahead of the day, sorting life admin, planning, preparing, getting things lined up before everything starts competing for attention. No noise, no distractions.

So instead of losing an hour next week, it feels like I've already gained one.

It's a small reminder that a lot of these "disruptions" are predictable. You can either react when they happen, or design around them in advance.

Small, consistent adjustments beat big reactive changes every time.
